SKUP evaluation of iaX-2101, an optical reader

SKUP is a Scandinavian group that performs independent evaluations of the analytical performance and user-friendliness of laboratory equipment and rapid tests used for point of care testing (POCT).

iaX-2101 is a system for optical reading of lateral flow assays, in this evaluation represented by ABCR Antigen Test for Flu, Covid-19 and RSV.

The performance of iaX-2101 was assessed by comparing optical reading and visual interpretation of the ABCR Ag Test when performed by biomedical laboratory scientists (BLSs) at a clinical microbiology laboratory. Samples with discrepancy between results were compared to a real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. The reader showed a good agreement with visual interpretation and RT-PCR.

The user-friendliness of iaX-2101 was assessed by the intended users. The user-friendliness was unsatisfactory.
